Underwear Manufacturing Cost: Compare OEM Quotes

Estimate an underwear order from a confirmed specification and written quotation, not a universal price curve. This guide covers purchased garment production, not the capital required to build or operate a new factory. Compare the same fabric, size mix, packaging and delivery scope, then calculate the subtotal of the costs you have actually confirmed.

1. Request Comparable Volume Quotations

Canzhen's published starting MOQ is 5,000 pieces per style and color. Confirm the final MOQ for the selected construction and material before placing an order. A quantity tier is a request for a separate supplier quote, not a guaranteed discount: a different size mix, additional colors or changes to packing may change the basis of the comparison. Keep the quotation date and validity period with each scenario so you do not compare expired and current offers.

Write quantities in individual garments and separately identify retail packs. State how sizes are distributed within each color and whether colors are mixed in a pack. Confirm what happens if the final packed quantity differs from the requested quantity. Review the supplier quotation checklist before making a supplier decision based only on the quoted unit price.

2. Build a Cost Breakdown from the Approved Sample

Ask the supplier to identify which costs are already included in the garment price. Materials, knitting or cutting, sewing, finishing, inspection, labels and packaging may be bundled in one offer or listed separately in another. Adding the same operation again would overstate your budget. Equally, leaving out a separately charged operation would make an apparently lower offer misleading. Keep one cost basis across all supplier comparisons and record the exclusions next to each figure.

Fabric and construction: confirm composition, material reference, garment construction, size mix and finishing requirements for the quoted style.
Development: record sampling, tooling, setup, artwork and testing charges separately when excluded from the unit price.
Packaging: identify garment-level bags and labels, retail packs, outer cartons and any preparation work.
Delivery: obtain the shipping term and named location, and list transport, insurance, customs and destination charges not included.

Use production photos to communicate the reference style, not as a substitute for the approved sample or a test report. A weighing photo for one size cannot establish shipment weight for a different style, and an image cannot prove organic certification or fabric composition. Review the underwear production lookbook or bra production photos and specify the exact item when requesting a quote.

3. Quotation-Based Order Cost Calculator

Enter confirmed figures using one currency. Prices and extra costs are intentionally blank; no factory price, freight rate or tax rate is supplied. Enter zero only when a charge is known to be included or not applicable. The starting quantity is the published MOQ, not an automatic acceptance of your project. Select the number of garments per retail pack, or use one when budgeting individual items.

The calculation is: quantity multiplied by the garment unit price plus extra packaging per garment, then add batch-level setup, freight, taxes and other costs. For pack budgeting, divide by the number of complete packs. Convert any pack-level packaging price to a per-garment figure before entering it. All supplied monetary values must use the same currency; this calculator does not perform exchange conversion.

4. Review the Budget Before Placing an Order

Keep the supplier quote, packing instructions, sample approval and freight estimate together. Check whether each document refers to the same quantity, material and destination. Ask the supplier to explain exclusions before you compare totals. If you change a fabric, cup construction, print, label or pack combination, request a revised quote rather than applying a previous price to the new specification. The calculator will faithfully add the numbers you enter, but it cannot confirm whether those numbers cover every required service.

For a retail program, prepare a separate sales and inventory forecast. Production cost alone is not net profit: selling fees, fulfilment, returns, storage and advertising may still need to be deducted from revenue. Ask for supporting documents relevant to your exact product and destination instead of treating generic certification claims as product approval.
